Aspire Orthopaedics has closed

Our private practice closed on 30 September 2026.

New referrals are accepted for anterior approach total hip replacement only.

Dear colleagues, patients and friends,

Aspire Orthopaedics closed on 30 September 2026. This follows my appointment as shared Director of Orthopaedics at Townsville University Hospital, where I continue to work as an orthopaedic surgeon and contribute to the further development of orthopaedic services in North Queensland.

It has been a privilege to care for patients from Townsville and across North Queensland. I am grateful for your trust and support, and to the dedicated team at Aspire Orthopaedics who have supported the practice and our patients over the years.

Anterior approach hip replacement

As many of you know, I have been passionate about performing (and teaching others to perform) direct anterior approach total hip replacements for many years due to their numerous perceived benefits. To continue this service for the region, I maintain a regular fortnightly operating list at the Mater Hospital to perform this surgery.

This pathway is excellent for privately insured patients who want an accelerated recovery, would benefit from a short hospital stay, or who have already undergone this surgery on the contralateral side.
